First lesson, Jamie had us warm up and go through dance routines that we have known for a while now. I tried my hardest but didn't do as well as everyone else as I hardly knew them.
Second lesson, we sat in a circle and Jamie gave us all some post-it notes and told us to write characters, adjectives, childhood games and random words on. We gave all the post-it notes back to him and he swapped some around and put us into four groups. He gave each group 2 characters, 2 adjectives, 2 random words and 1 childhood game from the post-it notes and asked us to create a story using dance. My group had a country singer and a woman as the characters, wave and yelled were our adjectives, sock and shenanigans were our random words and heads down thumbs up was our childhood game. My group and I created an abstract story of a singing concert, with call and response movements.
After that exercise, Jamie split us into two bigger groups and gave us different settings, we had to create a cartoon-like still image within the setting he gave us. My groups setting was a Baghdad Market Place. We did our best to over exaggerate every single part, including our emotions.
By the end of the lesson the whole class had earned themselves 20 minuets worth of press-ups and stomach crunches, as we were miss behaving and not paying attention to Jamie when he was talking. I did my best for the first 5 minuets (like 3 push-ups) and just either hid, or pretended i was doing it for the rest of the lesson.. Sorry Jamie xo.
