Gavin


Aims: Define what an element is.
Taking the dynamic of an element into your body.
In our first lesson Gavin asked us 'what is a natural element?'
  • Fire
  • Water
  • Earth
  • Air

He then told us to move around in the space being these elements by using just our bodies. After a while, he added 5 different emotions to each element and asked us to move around in the space again, being the emotive elements by using our bodies:
  • Happy
  • Sad
  • Love
  • Fear
  • Anger
I found using just my body to become these elements quite hard to begin with, but I relaxed into it as the exercise progressed. I found becoming 'love' the hardest as I had no personal connection to the emotion. I found being 'sad' and 'angry' the easiest.. (i know, shocking right!)
 Second lesson, as a group we read through parts of the script and annotated them. We also thought about what natural elements the four main characters (Sharazad, Dinarzad, Viezier and Sharayar) would be.
After reading through the script we did some group exercises with the bean bags and sticks, to increase our concentration.
