Barveene- Muslim Workshop

One of the teachers that works in our drama department is Muslim so she arranged a Musim Workshop, that she lead, for us so we could get more of an understanding of the religion and culture.
She seperated the men from woman and told us that we couldnt speak to the opposite sex for the rest of the workshop. Then, she gave all of the girls a Hijab to wear (a sacred scarf that woman wear around their heads to cover their hair). I didn't like wearing the Hijab as i felt quite restricted and because I feel my hair is a big part of myself and I didnt feel the same with it covered.

Barveene had set up different stations around the dance studio for us to explore:
  • Henna
  • Eyeliner
  • Prayer
  • Qu'ran
  • Muslim snacks
  • Jewelery
  • Perfume
  • Create a poster
I enjoyed the Henna station the most as I like to create quirky patterns in unusual ways. I spent most of my time at this station as all the other girls asked me to design and draw henna on their hands.
