Our first lesson of the day started with a discussion within the group about our project 'Arabian Nights'. This involved the rest of the group explaining the story line and relationships between characters to me, as I haven't been in to hear about our new project.
After I was clear on the story and script, Jamie moved us onto an abstract exercise to get us thinking 'outside the box' and by not using the most obvious or simple answer. He split the class into two groups and emptied a bag containing different coloured scarfs, a stretchy parachute, bean bags and tennis balls onto the floor. He gave us a word/object (e.g, water, chair, traffic light, a cave) and told us to use our bodies and the things from the bag to create that word/object in abstract form. This created a bit of friendly competition between the two groups.
In Jamie's second lesson, he put the whole class back together and told us to work as a team and use our bodies to create a 3D house. It took a lot of time, patience and failed ideas.. but we made it in the end! And used the parachute to make a roof.
